#CommunityCalling for donations to help support 10,000 children across Northern Ireland with digital access – 3 ways to support this campaign:
- Cash contributions
- Device donations
- Practical support
Children across Northern Ireland are missing vital education and the opportunity to realise their full potential as a consequence of COVID-19. The impacts will affect children, families and the economy for years to come.
Ofcom estimates that about 9% of children in the UK – between 1.1 million and 1.8 million – do not have access to a laptop, desktop or tablet at home. In Northern Ireland, this could amount to as many as 30,000 young people, not including those whose access to education might be limited because they live in a household with only a mobile internet connection. This means that they are unable to connect to their friends or their teachers, and they are missing out on a critical tool for learning at home, so they may fall farther behind their peers.
We are asking for businesses to help these children and young people get the digital access they deserve, by supplying devices, data or the internet connection they need so that learning from home is no longer a struggle.
⚠️ The situation is critical and it is more important than ever to plug the digital gap. We all have a responsibility and the ability to help. Will you?
